Sunrise

The sunrise is always gonna be more beautiful than the sunset. It always signals a new beginning, and that’s the most precious thing anyone could ever ask for. A fresh start is something every human on this planet would kill for when the opportunity strikes. Question is - how would you know when it is really a clean white sheet of paper, or could it be just a new environment with the same shit? 

As my move to Paris starts to draw closer, my heart reacts differently from excitement. The thought of it being semi-permanent scares me. The commitment level in just a singular city has gone from 'love' to 'live'. People ask me about my migration, and I would react defensively explaining it isn't a migration. I am just testing out a different city for a slightly longer period than usual. But at the back of my head, I question myself - Am I really? 

Don't get me wrong - my love for that city is stronger than Chuck Norris and a mountain combined. The gentle waves of La Seine, the glistering lights from Tour Eiffel after 7pm, soothing cafe's jazz music, fresh hot piping baguette from every boulangerie at every corner... I have just gotta keep thoughts like these in head. 

Get excited . Stay calm . Speak French . Be in Love

So, we were experiencing Indian summer heat in Paris for the 10 days. 

Nothing definitely gets better than that.

Also, chasing the sunlight wasn't too difficult in Paris;

Everywhere you go, the sunset rays were always so beautiful and spectacular.

I miss you already, my favourite city.

I have been gone, for too long. 

But now I am back.

Overalls & Me

2 weekends ago, I was in Singapore for a 14 hours trip to tie up some loose ends. 

Current city: Jakarta

Although my life have been pretty hectic with work and other stuff right now, I've still got Singapore at the back of my head. Catching up supper with my best friend and having early breakfast with my sister was definitely the highlight of my April. What my sister made me realise was that I have not been home in more than 2 months and that we miss each other too much. Now, I wouldn't blame her for getting mad at me. But at the same time, sometimes you just gotta go on a hiatus so you can freshen up and get back into the swing of things, don’t ya think? Hehe!

Anyway, this overalls was such a score (SGD$12) at the Terminal 21 mall in Bangkok. The tweed light weight fabric was exactly what was needed. It didn't cling onto my body unnecessarily, and neither was it too baggy. Just puuurfect~ Paired them with my over-worn vintage Ray Ban's, Jeffrey Campbell acrylic wedge, and a pretty not-so- basic tee. This black shimmery crew neck t-shirt that I got at a yard sale is probably the most versatile tee that I own. It is by an Indonesian local label, Nikoo. Trust me, this is definitely gonna be one of my favourites to be on rotation. 

Ps: wearing basics; no prints, or bold colors, will always be my default outfit.

Strollin' Siam in Vintage

Bangkok as usual was productive and fruitful for shopping. Like I said before in one of my earlier post, my love for BKK is a never ending love story. It continues to surprise me each and every visit.

But as much as I love travelling, I am glad that this streak has come to a halt. I am physically drained from juggling my very hectic work schedules and impromptu travel plans. Not only did it tire me out, it has also succeeded in cutting a big fat hole in my wallet. I need to save for this "special" thing that might be happening in my life in the next couple of months. Not announcing it until its concrete. Don't wanna jinx it now, do we?

Picked out this very dainty vintage pleated dress in JJ market. If you have been following me long enough, you would acknowledge my style as anything but feminine. Although sometimes I try being girly, it never really turns out right. With that being said, this outfit was put together in less than 3 minutes.
My usual: Dresses with sneakers.
I am glad I have been known for pairing these 2 combination all the time. Which is exactly what I have done for this outfit. My Supergas never fail me.

My asymmetrical vest in Bangkok!

Last week just right before leaving Jakarta - Bangkok,

I scored these romanian architecture-like babies at an upholstery store while looking for sofa fabrics. Initially, I had all intention to make a pencil skirt out of it, but I don't have a sewing machine. And what's cooler and easier to make than a pencil skirt - a vest!

Instructions and pictorial below for the DIY steps.

Lets go!:

1. Buy a really nice fabric of your choice. 

2. The length and width could be of any measurement you like depending on how much drape you prefer. In this particular vest, it was a 1m(W) x 1.4m(L).

3. Measure your back [from pit to pit] 

4. Find the centre of the fabric vertically, measure out the length of your back, add 2cm of ease of each side.

5. From there, draw an approximately 15-20cm line on each side [depending on how big your arm-hole is]

6. Cut along the line

7. Voila~

Anyway, Bangkok was simply divine. 

I actually have not been there in a year and a half and it's silly of me to forget how much I actually miss that chaotic city. I'll have more posts up on the blog within these couple of days. Stay tune.

Forgotten post from Bali.

After a whole 3 weeks of craziness from work, I am so excited because

.......

Heading to Bangkok in a couple of hours time! Even though I have been to the city countless times, I still share a never ending fairy tale with it. It is a city that I can fall in love with all over again. The people, culture, and duh~ Shopping...
